What this site knows about you

The short version

ThumbGrab has no accounts, no login and no database of users. The links you paste are processed entirely inside your browser and are never sent to us. The site does serve third-party advertising and measurement scripts, and those third parties set cookies and collect data under their own policies. The detail below explains exactly what happens.

Who runs this site

ThumbGrab is operated as an independent project. For any privacy question, including requests to exercise your rights under data protection law, write to hello@thumbgrab.art.

What we collect directly

Nothing you type. The URL you paste into the downloader is parsed by JavaScript running on your device. The resulting image requests go from your browser straight to YouTube's image servers. No copy of the link reaches ThumbGrab.

Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records ordinary web server information when a page is served: IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time. These logs exist for security and troubleshooting and are retained for a limited period.

Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep the message and your address for as long as needed to deal with the matter.

Cookies and advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors and ad networks that we do not control may also serve ads on this site. They may use cookies, web beacons or similar technologies to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and to personalise the content you see. ThumbGrab has no access to, and no control over, cookies set by these third parties.

If you are visiting from a region where consent is required, a consent notice from a certified consent management platform appears before non-essential cookies are set, and you can accept, reject or adjust your choices. Rejecting personalised advertising does not remove advertising; it makes it non-personalised. You can reopen that notice and change your choice at any time from the link in the footer of any page.

Our legal bases for processing are your consent for non-essential cookies and advertising, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for server logs. You have the right to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local supervisory authority.

Users in California

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of the word. Some sharing of identifiers with advertising partners may fall within the broad definition of "sale" or "sharing" under the CCPA and CPRA. You may opt out of personalised advertising using the links above, and you may contact us to exercise your rights of access and deletion. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

Images loaded from YouTube

When you use the downloader, your browser requests images from Google's image servers at i.ytimg.com. That request is between you and Google, and it is subject to Google's privacy policy. This is the same request your browser makes whenever you load a YouTube page.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and retention

The site is served over HTTPS. Because we do not operate accounts or store submitted content, there is very little personal data to protect. Server logs and email correspondence are kept only as long as they serve the purpose described above.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated and the change will be described here. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
